Make Your Practice the Best Part of Their Day
What if your office became everyone's favorite place to be this week? Not because you're ignoring what's happening, but because you're intentionally creating moments of joy:
· Start morning huddle with a truly terrible dad joke or two
· Celebrate a success from the day before
· Hide candy or small trinkets in random places
· Give someone an unexpected 10-minute breather when the schedule allows
· Put on that playlist that always gets everyone humming

If political discussions start heating up the break room or affecting patient care, have those one-on-one conversations early. Try: "I've noticed you seem really passionate about what's happening. While I respect that, we need our practice to feel welcoming for everyone right now - both patients and teammates. What ideas do you have for keeping things professional?"
-
Some folks might be struggling more than they let on. Keep your door open, check in one on one, and know your resources. Having your Employee Assistance Program number handy isn't paranoid - it's prepared.
Remember: Your team is watching how you lead through this. You don't have to be perfect, but you do need to be present. Stay focused on what matters most - taking care of patients AND each other.
Looking ahead, we all know the news cycle might be wild for a while. Your job isn't to predict what happens next - it's to keep your practice feeling like that calm, steady place where everyone knows what to expect: respect, support, excellent patient care and maybe an occasional surprise snack in the break room!
Need a listening ear yourself? Remember that other healthcare leaders are navigating this too. Sometimes sharing ideas(or just comparing notes) helps us all do better.
Now, about those snacks... anyone else thinking this might be the perfect week for a taco bar?
