Consulting FAQs
-
Practice management consulting is all about making your practice work better. We look at financial performance, workflows, how your team is structured, revenue cycle performance, and the big-picture decisions that shape your future. I use something called the Pillars of Practice Management, a framework that covers Strategic Direction, Financial Management, Staff & Provider Engagement, and Patient Satisfaction. The goal? A practice that's not just surviving, but stable, sustainable, and true to your mission.

Practices usually reach out when something feels stuck or unsustainable. Common needs include:
Financial stress or shrinking margins
Staffing challenges and unclear roles
Leadership transitions or growing pains
Workflows that don't flow or scheduling headaches
Revenue cycle struggles or payer mix problems
Compliance and credentialing questions
Needing clarity and direction when things are changing

Some engagements are short and project-based. Others unfold over several months. Either way, we start by figuring out what's most important, what's realistic given your constraints, and what changes will actually stick. Everything is designed around what will work for your practice, not what sounds good on paper.
-
Absolutely. A lot of clients call when money feels tight or unpredictable. We dig into what's really driving the numbers, where the pressure points are, and what practical changes will improve stability without burning out your team. The focus is always on sustainable improvements, not quick fixes that fall apart in six months.
-
Yes. Depending on what we're working on, you might get assessments, financial dashboards, workflow maps, recommendations, planning tools, or step-by-step guides. Everything is built for your practice and designed to be actually useful, not just filed away.
-
Yes, completely. Clients often need a safe space to talk through sensitive issues around leadership, staff, or finances. Everything we discuss stays confidential.

I'm a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE) and a Certified Physician Compliance Officer (CPCO). I've spent over 30 years in medical practice administration and the last 8 years as a consultant. I also serve on the Board of the Washington State Healthcare Leaders Association (WSHLA).
-
Yes. I work with clients all over the country, mostly through virtual consulting. For the right projects, I'll travel for in-person work, but virtual consulting works really well for most engagements.

We'll start with a Discovery Call to talk through what's happening and make sure we're a good fit. From there, I'll recommend next steps that make sense for your goals and bandwidth.
